Food
Should you choose to join us for lunch or dinner, you will not be disappointed…
With a local farmer's daughter at the helm, we are passionate about serving fresh, local produce on our menus. And why not? The Highlands of Scotland yields some of the best natural produce in the world.
You can view our menu for eating inside in our lounge bar restaurant or conservatory, outside at our sea front tables or in our new courtyard, or to takeaway to enjoy at home.
Due to COVID19 social distancing requirements, we've had to reduce the number of tables in our lounge bar restaurants and conservatory so reservations are recommended, please phone us on 01381 600217 or email us to reserve a table. We will also need your contact details for 'track & trace', in line with government regulations.
It's a family affair...
The beef on our menu comes from the owner’s family farm at Udale, 5 miles from Cromarty. These beef cattle have won many prizes and regularly top the weekly sales at the local market in Dingwall, so you are in for a treat if you order the steak or the roast beef! Occasionally, the farm struggles to keep up with demand and our local butcher provides top quality beef from another local farm. Either way, the beef is hung for a minimum of 21 days to mature & ensure tenderness.
Using our farming connections and local butchers ensure only the finest locally-produced lamb, pork and game are served.
The freshest fish...
We are lucky enough to have first refusal of the daily catch from our local fishermen. During the season, our “daily specials” menu includes a selection of seafood landed at the harbour in front of the hotel or from our friendly fish suppliers on the West Coast - including scallops, mussels, langoustine & mackerel.
Our Head Chef Denis Mackay has been with us since summer 2013 & has a wealth of experience from throughout the UK. He has a flair for creating mouth-watering dishes using fresh local produce. 'Fast food' at the Royal means the fish that's landed in the morning is on the plate by lunch!
Drinks, Teas & Coffees
We are open from 11am until late for drinks, teas & coffees. In June 2018 we took possession of an espresso machine and our trained baristas make fabulous coffees, using 'Highland Roast' beans from the awesome folks at the Inverness Coffee Roasting Company. Hot chocolate comes from the Chocolate Place in Inverness.
